This weekend, Jimmy Wayne will arrive in Phoenix, Ariz., as the first leg of his project Meet Me Halfway concludes at HomeBase Youth Services. Jimmy set out on foot from Nashville, Tenn. on New Year's Day to walk across the country to raise awareness for teen homelessness. Throughout the seven months he's been walking, Jimmy has logged more than 1,700 miles.

To celebrate crossing the finish line, Jimmy's weekend festivities begin on Saturday, July 31, with a concert held at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill in Mesa, Ariz. The show starts at 7:30 PM and will also broadcast live on his Ustream page.

The following morning, August 1, Jimmy will walk into Phoenix, completing this first, monumental portion of the journey. Fans are encouraged to walk the last two miles with Jimmy into HomeBase, located at 931 E. Devonshire, Phoenix, Ariz. 85014. The walk will begin roughly at 8:00 AM local time. Fans who wish to walk are asked to meet at Steele Indian School Park located at 300 E. Indian School Road (Phoenix) in parking lot E off 7th Street, north of the Arizona State Veterans Hospital. HomeBase will provide transportation back to your vehicles after the walk is complete. Upon finishing the walk, fans will join Jimmy, civic leaders, HomeBase youth, and Meet Me Halfway supporters to celebrate the success of the campaign.

"The experience from this walk has been kind of what I thought it would be, but it's better than I thought it would be as well," Jimmy tells The Boot. "I thought that I would be more alone, but I wasn't. The amount of people who have gotten involved and the amount of support -- from fans to strangers, radio and media -- has been life changing. I will never forget this. If this walk has helped even one child find a permanent home with a caring family, it's been worth every step. And if me doing it all over again would help another, I'm ready."
