Jewel Sidelined From ‘Dancing’
A bum knee is forcing Jewel to take a break from 'Dancing With the Stars' before the show even begins.
"I guess I really over did it on the rehearsal front!" the singer writes on her blog. "My knees have been hurting so badly that I finally broke down and talked to [husband] Ty's knee doctor yesterday. He said I have tendonitis in my knees and that I have to start a course of medicine to try and bring the swelling down ... Now I'm just worried I won't even be able to dance!"
Jewel has to stay off her feet for a few days, missing rehearsal with her professional dancing partner, Dmitry Chaplin. They are supposed to perform the cha cha on the show's premiere, which is March 9. Jewel says she's determined not to miss it.
"I've had a minor setback in my training," she says. "But I am dedicated to getting better and showing the judges and America that I can cha-cha with the best of them. Don't count me out as I am in this for the long run!"
Jewel's husband, rodeo star Ty Murray is also competing on this season of 'DWTS.' He apparently warned his wife about the toll that training for the show would take on her body. So Jewel jokes that "now he got a big ol' 'I told you so' in!"
