Jessica Simpson Considers Studying Religion

Jessica Simpson will spend the first part of 2009 opening shows for Rascal Flatts, but it looks like the pop-turned-country singer might have another path in mind.

Simpson, whose manager/dad is a former Baptist minister, tells Marie Claire magazine, "I've been contemplating taking a college course in religion."

But it wasn't Joe Simpson who sparked his daughter's interest in studying theology. It was a best-selling book -- well, more specifically, a TV show about a best-selling book.

"I love religion," says Simpson. "I remember when the book the 'The Da Vinci Code' came out, the Discovery Channel did this three-night piece on it that I TiVoed and then watched eight times."

Although Simpson left school at 16, she later earned her GED.
