Jennifer Nettles is heading to Broadway to star in 'Chicago the Musical' in February.

Nettles made the announcement Tuesday (Dec. 9) on 'Today.' While many would be a bundle of nerves making their debut on the Great White Way, the songstress says she is looking forward to the challenge with her typical fiery and bubbly attitude.

“I’m gonna be on Broadway for the first time,” Nettles said on 'Today,' a huge smile adorning her face. "This one makes me on fire. This one makes me thrilled.”

She also took to Twitter to share the news, exclaiming, "Freak out, scream face excited!"

The 'That Girl' hitmaker is set to play the role of sassy Roxie Hart -- a part previously played by talented women like Melanie Griffith, Robin Givens and Kara DioGuardi, among others -- beginning Feb. 2, 2015. Nettles' 'Chicago' run will last eight weeks, through March 29.

Nettles has been spreading her wings the last couple years, not just in her Broadway debut but also in her music and personal life. She's taken a break from duo Sugarland with Kristian Bush, branched out in a solo career and also become a mother.

With her new role, the singer joins the ranks of country stars like Reba McEntire, who made her Broadway debut in 'Annie Get Your Gun' almost 15 years ago, in 2001.
