Funeral arrangements for Jean Shepard have been announced. The Grand Ole Opry star and Country Music Hall of Famer will be laid to rest on Friday (Sept. 30) in Hendersonville, Tenn.

Public visitation hours are scheduled for Thursday (Sept. 29) from 12PM until 8PM and Friday from 11AM until 1PM at the Hendersonville Funeral Home on East Main Street. A celebration of life service will follow on Friday at 1PM. The public is invited to attend both events.

Born Ollie Imogene Shepard on Nov. 21, 1933, in Pauls Valley, Okla., Shepard got her big break when she performed with Hank Thompson in 1952; impressed, Thompson convinced Ken Nelson to sign Shepard to Capitol Records. Throughout her career, she released 24 studio albums and more than 70 singles.

On Nov. 21, 1955, at the age of 22, Shepard joined the Grand Ole Opry; in 2011, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame; and in 2014, she released an autobiography, Down Through the Years. She passed away on Sunday (Sept. 25) at the age of 82.
