Congrats to Rascal Flatts‘ Jay DeMarcus and wife, CMT correspondent Allison, who are readying for the birth of their second child this summer. The couple welcomed their first baby, daughter Madeline Leigh, to the world Dec. 17, 2010.

“This was definitely a huge surprise, but we’re so thankful and excited that Maddie is going to have a brother or sister,” Jay says. “We’re really gonna have our hands full!”

“Jay and I are thrilled about completing our family,” Allison adds. “Madeline is going to love having a sibling, and we are bracing ourselves for the many sleepless nights ahead.”

This time around, Jay will likely be less stressed. “My preparations are doing as much praying as I can, really,” he said prior to Madeline’s birth. “I’m nervous about it, because until you get a baby of your own, you can always give everybody else’s back to them. So, to actually have something I’m responsible for, I just want to make sure I will do the best job I can, and I’m sure I’ll make mistakes. We’ve spent a lot of time reading books and watching videos and a lot of online research, and watching [Gary and Joe Don] figuring out what not to do. [laughs]“

Jay and Allison have been married for nearly eight years. The two met after Allison appeared in Rascal Flatts’ video for ‘These Days.’ They tied the knot on May 15, 2004, in Nashville.
