Jason Aldean has been teasing a collaboration with rocker Lenny Kravitz at the 2013 CMT Music Awards, and the unlikely pair delivered Wednesday night, kicking off the show with a bang with 'American Woman.'

Aldean and Kravitz traded verses and sang in unison and harmony during the song, which Kravitz famously covered after it was a hit for the Guess Who. Aldean's voice was a surprisingly good fit for the track, matching his range well. He projected well and looked good, too, with his rock-meets-country attitude. There are other rock-country collaborations scheduled for the show as well.

Aldean also hosted the award with Kristen Bell, and he was up for several awards, including Video of the Year. He debuted his new single, 'Night Train,' later in the broadcast.
