There are plenty of good ways get an artist's attention on stage -- for example, a unique outfit or a clever sign. A bad way to do it, as one Jason Aldean concertgoer in Wichita, Kan., found out on Thursday night (April 9), is to throw something.

Aldean was in the middle of performing "Don't You Want to Stay," his duet with Kelly Clarkson, during his 2015 Burn It Down Tour stop at Wichita's Intrust Bank Arena when a concertgoer threw a beer cup at Aldean, hitting him in the side of the head.

“[The concertgoer] had been drinking [and] had a cup of beer and wanted to get Jason Aldean’s attention to let him know that his friend, who was also just at the concert, had just gotten engaged, and he wanted Aldean to somehow acknowledge it on stage," Capt. Dave Mattingly of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office tells the Wichita Eagle.

According to the newspaper, Aldean stopped singing and stared angrily into the crowd. He found the offender, shook his head "no," and walked closer to the crowd, pointing to help security guards identify the man.

At the next break, Aldean told the crowd, "It took everything I had not to go kick that guy’s teeth in."

The concertgoer was removed from the building, but Aldean and his representatives will not be pressing charges. He finished the show and did not appear to be injured.

“It’s unfortunate and disappointing for both the venue and the artist to see a fan act in such a manner,” Intrust Bank Arena spokeswoman Christine Pileckas says in a statement.

Aldean, who recently got married, on March 21, has tour dates scheduled through the fall.
