Jason Aldean may have graduated from high school 20 years ago, but that didn't stop him from returning, not as a student, but as a country superstar, to film the music video for his new single, "Gonna Know We Were Here."

The video, directed by Shaun Silva, takes place at Aldean's alma mater, Windsor Academy in Macon, Ga. Throughout the clip, Aldean is shown walking through his high school's hallways, playing music out on the football field, looking in the trophy case and taking a stroll down memory lane. The music video also shows a football game -- actual footage from the school's homecoming event.

The celebratory, adrenaline-filled game had the exact vibe that Aldean was going for in his new video.

“This song pretty much sums up how I feel like me and my fans live our lives,” Aldean says. “That same excitement is what we feel out there on the road every night ... It was pretty cool that we could bring that vibe to the music video, too, by shooting it back in Macon with a ton of people from my hometown. Getting back there and on that high school football field really reminded me of that rush of just living life without any regrets."

Twenty years later, Aldean is older and more experienced in music and in life -- and he's garnered more fame that he probably imagined in his high school days.

The singer just announced a new tour, the We Were Here 2016 Tour, which is scheduled to kick off on Jan. 15 and feature special guests Thomas Rhett and A Thousand Horses; it will also be Aldean's first time playing headlining dates in Australia.
