Jason Aldean's tally of No. 1 songs has increased to nine, with "Fly Over States" having just reached the chart pinnacle. Most impressively, the tune is the fifth consecutive single from the country-rocker's My Kinda Party album to reach the top spot.

"I've always loved this song, and I really hoped it would be a single eventually," says Jason. "I didn't know we would get to put out five songs off this album, let alone have all of them go to No. 1. It totally blows my mind."

Although "Fly Over States" has been a hit with country radio listeners, Jason has taken the stance that he'd rather the song didn't resonate with another sector of the U.S. population: politicians.

"It'll be my luck that the worst candidate will pick up 'Fly Over States' as his election song," he tells The Boot. "Then I'll be forever linked to that guy, whoever he is! [laughs] One of the things about my music is that people who are from middle America, the heartland, that's kind of where I grew up. Those people have always related to what I was doing, and this song speaks directly to those people. The song is absolutely real, and when you tell a story like that and you deliver it in a way that it's real and you're not trying to sugarcoat it, people respond to that and relate to it. That's what this song is, and why it's become popular."

While he's in the early stages of prepping a brand-new album to follow up the reigning CMA Album of the Year, Jason is also headlining the summer leg of his record-breaking My Kinda Party tour. The trek's amphitheater season kicks off this weekend with a sold-out show in Birmingham, Ala. on Thursday (May 17) then heads to Atlanta in his home state of Georgia for a two-night stand at Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood on Friday (18) and Saturday (19). After the first Atlanta show sold out in only four minutes, a second was added. That one sold out in just a few hours. So far this year, the entertainer has sold out every show, setting more than a dozen venue attendance records in the process.
