Jason Aldean Hopes to Brave the World Series Someday
Jason Aldean grew up playing baseball and dreamed of becoming a major leaguer until he decided to follow his musical dreams, so it’s no wonder when pressed to choose one sporting event he’d love to sing the national anthem at, he’d have to go with the World Series. And of course, his beloved Atlanta Braves would have to be there playing their hearts out in Game Seven in this scenario.
“One out of any sporting event I could play in the country, it would have to be the World Series,” Jason tells The Boot. “I’m a huge baseball fan and grew up playing baseball, and it’s always been my favorite sport. And I think in a perfect world, singing the national anthem at Game Seven of the World Series where the Braves win, that would be it … I don’t know that it gets any better than that, I’ll take that!”
An all-district leadoff hitter in high school, the Georgia native had scholarship offers from several colleges to play baseball, but the idea of hitting the books for four more years just didn’t appeal to him, so he pursued his music career instead. But Jason will get to dust off that bat and do more than just watch the Boys of Summer in a few days, when he takes to the field on July 10th in Phoenix for the MLB’s 2011 Taco Bell Legends and Celebrity Softball Game during Major League week. He will play five innings with baseball Hall of Famers Ernie Banks, Rollie Fingers, Rickey Henderson and Ozzie Smith at the game, which will be televised on ESPN on July 11 at 10:30 PM ET.
Jason joins fellow stars from the worlds of music, TV, and movies on his team for the big game, including Nick Jonas, Glee‘s Chord Overstreet, and Desperate Housewives‘ James Denton, among others. Tickets to the All-Star matchup can be purchased through Ticketmaster or online at www.allstargame.com.
Jason will return to the road to his long-running ‘My Kind Of Party‘ tour following his time on the diamond in Arizona.
