Jana Kramer is returning to her acting roots. The former One Tree Hill star has joined the cast of an upcoming indie music drama, Country Crush.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie follows the story of Nancy Taylor, an aspiring musician from New York City who falls for a guy named Charlie Bishop while en route to a country party. Kramer will play Katherine Bishop, a young wife and mother and Charlie Bishop's sister-in-law.

The 31-year-old, who has also starred in the movies Click and Prom Night, as well as the TV shows 90210 and Entourage, among others, says that she enjoys acting, but she has no plans of giving up her promising music career any time soon.

“I love acting, but my heart and soul is in singing,” Kramer says. “I’ve been terrified to pursue this dream because it’s so personal to me. If someone tells me they don’t like my voice, it’s a lot harder of a hit to take. This is what I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve wanted to do music my entire life.”

Kramer is currently climbing the charts with "I Got the Boy," the second single from her still-untitled upcoming sophomore album. She will have plenty of time to perform the song while on the road with Kelsea Ballerini, as they co-headline the 2015 CMT Next Women of Country Tour.

“I’m beyond excited to be a part of the first Next Women of Country Tour. I’m a big advocate for us girls sticking together and encouraging each other,” Kramer says. “I can’t wait to see everyone on the road.”

The year 2015 is shaping up to be a big one for Kramer. She will also wed her fiance, football player Michael Caussin, in an intimate ceremony in Virginia.

There is no word yet on when Country Crush will be released. Download "I Got the Boy" on iTunes, and see all of Kramer's upcoming shows on her website.
