Before taking the stage Saturday (June 14) at the 2014 Taste of Country Music Festival, Jamie Lynn Spears cleared something up: Neither she nor her pop star sister Britney got their vocal talents from their father.

“Um, I mean, he’s not horrible,” she tells Taste of Country. “But he definitely shouldn't be singing in front of a crowd.”

Of course, that doesn't mean he's never tried.

“One time I was working with a band, and he asked them if he could take some extra time afterwards so that he could learn how to karaoke the song ‘Colder Weather,’ because he wanted to sing it at the dirt bike races," Spears recalls.

It couldn't have been too embarrassing, however. The 23-year-old songstress, who recently released 'The Journey,' her debut country EP, brought Dad to see her perform at the second day of the festival.

"We brought the redneck with us," Spears says, laughing.
