Jamie Watson, Jamie Lynn Spears' husband, used social media on Tuesday (Feb. 7) to thank his wife's fans for their thoughts and prayers for her daughter (his stepdaughter) Maddie, who is recovering following an ATV accident on Sunday (Feb. 5).

On Tuesday afternoon, according to a statement from a Spears family representative, 8-year-old Maddie regained consciousness after driving her ATV into a pond on Sunday. The statement reports that the young girl is "awake and talking," and off her ventilator; although she is still receiving oxygen and being monitored, "it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident."

In the caption of his Instagram post, which features an item of clothing with the words "Believe in Miracles" on it, Watson writes, "Thank you to everyone for the prayers. Maddie is doing better and better. Thank y'all so much."

While riding an ATV on her family’s property on Sunday, Maddie was trying to avoid running over a drainage ditch and overcorrected her course, running the vehicle into a pond; Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the emergency call around 3PM. Spears and Watson, along with other family members, were about 100 yards away when Maddie crashed; they tried to rescue the young girl, but, officials say, she was trapped by the ATV’s seatbelt and safety netting.

Spears shares custody of Maddie with the girl’s father, Casey Aldridge. Spears became pregnant with Maddie in 2007, at the age of 16; the singer and Aldridge, then girlfriend and boyfriend, got engaged in the spring of 2008, and Maddie was born in June of that year. However, the couple called off their engagement in the spring of 2009, and their relationship officially ended in early 2010.

Spears married Watson in 2014. Watson's Instagram account features a number of photos of himself with Spears and Maddie, including shots taken around the holidays and on a Christmas Eve hunting trip.

Spears released her most recent single, “Sleepover,” in June of 2016. She has yet to comment on Maddie’s accident herself, but on Monday afternoon (Feb. 6), her sister, pop star Britney Spears used Facebook to ask her fans for prayers for her niece.
