Jake Owen has released the music video for his latest single, "Real Life." The song is the debut single from his upcoming new album.

The song was written by Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley and Josh Osborne, with a little insight from Owen.

“I [told Copperman and McAnally], ‘Everything in my life right now — I’m 33, I’m married, I have a kid, my dad beat cancer,’” Owen recalls. “I’ve gone through a lot of real-life situations over the last couple of years. I wanna get back to things that are real to me, and real-life scenarios. Next thing I know, a couple of weeks later, the two of them sent me a song that they wrote together, called "Real Life.""

Director Jeff Venable and Owen took the idea of "real-life scenarios" literally for the video, using Owen's mom, his twin brother Jerrod and his friends from Vero Beach, Fla., as actors. NASCAR star Kevin Harvick also makes an appearance in the clip, which includes a dance party (where else?) inside a Waffle House.

"There's friends hanging out, my family's here, my mom and dad are here, my twin brother's here, every guy from my crew -- bus drivers, truck drivers," Owen says. "If you look around, there's not scripted anything. Everybody's just doing what they do."

The singer says that "Real Life" is a good indication of what the rest of his album will be like.

"I’ve made a record with a bunch of random songs on it that worked on radio, but I want a piece of material that is consistent throughout each song, that talks about that feeling of growing up," Owen tells Taste of Country. "The feeling of looking back and the feeling of appreciating it all.”

Owen first performed "Real Life" at the 2015 CMT Music Awards. Download the single on iTunes.
