Jake Owen Is Spending Father’s Day Week With His Little Lady
Jake Owen talked about songs from his new album, a new song called "Putt Putt" and how he'll spend Father's Day with his 3-year-old during an interview prior to his set at the 2016 Taste of Country Music Festival.
The "American Country Love Song" singer is en route to Georgia, where he'll meet up with some family, friends and his daughter, Pearl. They'll spend five or six days there before he returns to the road next weekend.
“I mean, I do anything she wants,” Owen says when asked how he engages with his daughter. Every father has moments where they find themselves doing something that was unimaginable five or 10 years earlier. The 34-year-old singer has those experiences all the time, and he loves it.
"Her carseat has definitely made my truck not as cool," Owen admits, "But it makes it me feel good when I look in the back seat and see her back there.”
On Saturday, Owen tweeted a clip from a music video that appears to show him rapping alongside his "crew." He confirms there is a new song coming called "Putt Putt," inspired by a trip to a putt putt golf course in Myrtle Beach. The song will not be on his American Love album when it drops on July 29. Taste of Country has learned it's more along the lines of a Saturday Night Live digital short.
After the interview, Owen played for over 90 minutes to an enthusiastic crowd that braved cold weather and high winds to see him. At one point during the high-energy set, the barefooted singer was removing articles of clothes, as if he was impervious to the elements. The Taste of Country Festival crowd loved it.
