Jacob Davis has released the music video for his single "What I Wanna Be." Readers can press play above to watch.

During Davis' "What I Wanna Be" music video, which was directed by Josh Kranich, viewers watch a couple fall in love: They meet one night in a bar -- New Orleans' Bamboula's, to be exact -- and he walks her home, but that's not the end of it. The two are later seen riding bikes around the city, goofing off and getting to know each other; throughout the clip, Davis performs "What I Wanna Be" in Bamboula's.

Davis signed with Black River Entertainment in 2016. A Shreveport, La., native, the rising star earned a degree in environmental science, with a focus on geology, from Louisiana State University, and went to work for an oil company before making the move to Nashville to focus on his music career.

“They put me on an oil rig, working on the night shift. I realized real quick I’d made a mistake,” Davis recalls. “I did that, and I wanted to quit immediately, but my parents were really stern on giving this company a year … But while working there, I learned how to get up and go to work, how to be on time and how to pay my bills. So I feel like I grew up a lot in that year, and then moved to Nashville.”

Davis — who has been named one of Taste of Country’s RISERS for 2017 — is working with Forest Glen Whitehead on his debut project.
