Jacob Davis has achieved a childhood dream this year: getting to hear himself on the radio for the first time. The singer, whose debut single, "What I Wanna Be," was released in March, says he has trouble articulating how significant of an accomplishment that was for him.

"It’s hard to put into words," Davis tells The Boot of the experience. "It’s relieving. It’s so much pride coming out of you, because you pour everything you have into it, and that’s what we did ... ["What I Wanna Be" is] me, it’s soulful, it’s country music, and it’s alive. That’s a good one -- alive.

"We did a radio tour. We’ve been all over the country. We’ve been promoting the single," the Louisiana native adds, "and now it’s finally on the radio, and charting. I could not be more excited about what’s going on right now."

Davis recently digitally released three new songs, but he promises that he's working hard to get a larger collection of material out to fans.

"I grew up on full-length albums, and I would love to do that, but you never know," he says. "We’ve got to do some negotiating, I think, and sitting down with it."

Whenever he does release a set of tunes, there is a chance there will be some family harmonies on it: Davis is the brother of fellow rising country artist Jordan Davis, who is signed to UMG Nashville, and he says a collaboration is "hopefully down the road."

"Right now, we’re on different labels and have different singles out. We’re completely different, so I think we’re going to do our own thing a little bit," Jacob Davis notes. "[But] that’s the plan down the road. We’re best friends."

"What I Wanna Be" is available for download on iTunes.
