Hunter Hayes is already preparing for his upcoming slot on Lady Antebellum's Wheels Up 2015 Tour.

Hayes and Sam Hunt will be joining the trio for most of the North American dates on the tour, which also includes a European leg. Hayes says he loves hitting the road, but it takes a lot of work and planning to actually get out on stage.

“We live to be on the road. We live to do the shows. I love writing, and I love studio stuff, but the moment when it all makes sense is when you’re on stage," he says. "The ‘work’ is the 23 hours before the show -- it’s not the show, as that’s the fun part. That’s when we get to be ourselves, and we’re always looking for fresh ideas, to try new things, to try to bring the fans something they haven’t seen yet.”

Hayes, who recently took home a People's Choice Award for Favorite Male Country Artist, says he's looking forward to getting on the road and sharing the stage with such great artists.

“I’m excited to finally get back on the road, and I’m excited to team up with Lady A, too,” he says. “Fantastic performers. Unbelievable shows that they put on ... The energy is going to be through the roof.”

Lady A's Charles Kelley agrees, saying that Hayes and Hunt will do a great job getting the crowd ready for the main event.

“Being able to play off each other on that stage is honestly where we have the most fun,” Kelley says. “I have a feeling the crowd will already be on their feet when we get out there after starting the night with Hunter and Sam.”

The Wheels Up 2015 Tour kicks off on Feb. 28 in Oslo, Norway. The trek's first North American date comes on May 1, in Lubbock, Texas.
