TV star and singer-songwriter Hayley Orrantia is debuting the music video for her newest song, “Strong, Sweet & Southern,” exclusively for readers of The Boot.

A Texas native, Orrantia fully embraces her Southern heritage in her newest song: “I like my men like I like my tea / Strong, sweet and southern / You'd better be good and be good to me / 'Cause I’m strong, sweet and southern,” she sings in the tune's upbeat, bubbly chorus. The tailgate party-inspired "Strong, Sweet & Southern" music video, meanwhile, features plenty of down-home country favorites, such as Texas Pete hot sauce, beer pong and, of course, sweet tea.

Orrantia served as the creative director for the “Strong, Sweet & Southern” video, which was filmed in the Nashville area.

“When I visited Leiper's Fork during a trip to Nashville, I fell in love with the look!" she tells The Boot. "It was everything I wanted my video to be. It truly inspired me to create a fun video about a Southern tailgate party."

Orrantia also stars in the clip, embodying the lyrics' strong female lead.

“I reference Rosie the Riveter and make jokes about the girls beating the boys in every game. It's a fun contrast to the song wanting this generation’s young men to be more chivalrous,” she explains. “I'm a strong believer in both things. I feel like women should be independent, headstrong and confident while being open to a man treating her the way she deserves.”

Fans may recognize Orrantia from her starring role as Erica on ABC’s The Goldbergs, or perhaps from her time on The X-Factor. "Strong, Sweet & Southern," as well as Orrantia's past releases, is available for download on iTunes.
