Nashville-based singer-songwriter Hailey Whitters is revealing her newest music video, for the lighthearted song "City Girl," exclusively on The Boot.

Whitters is as physically stunning as her voice is mesmerizing, and she shines in this new clip, which shows her and her band performing and recording "City Girl." Intimate and gritty, the video contrasts nicely with the dreamy lyrics that also reflect a keen sense of humor -- a small-town girl from Shueyville, Iowa (population: 600), singing about her wish to become a city girl and wear high heels.

The "City Girl" music video was shot at the Building in East Nashville, and was filmed by Preston Leatherman. Whitters tells The Boot that she fell in love with the song after her first listen; after all, it is a somewhat autobiographical song for her.

"Growing up in Iowa, my house was in the middle of a cornfield, and I used to fantasize about getting out of the country one day and moving to the big city," she explains. "I just love the way this song tells that story with the right dose of humor and attitude.

"This is one of the more fun, character-like songs on the record ... so we really wanted to shoot a video to capture the energy behind the live performance," Whitters adds. "I love getting into the character of this sort of dramatic 'country girl in distress,' and I feel like an audience can see and feel that more in a video context. Plus, what better excuse to wear glitter pants!"

Whitters is indeed donning tight pants covered in glitter in the clip; she also channels Miranda Lambert's edgy style, pairing a Guns N' Roses tank top with the feminine pants and her wavy blonde hair.

Whitters is gifted in songwriting; she is a staff writer for Lee Ann Womack's husband, producer Frank Liddell, and also wrote a song that Martina McBride is cutting. The singer will be debuting her own record, Black Sheep, on Oct. 2; it is available for pre-order on iTunes. Whitters is planning a release party at the Basement in Music City on Sept. 29 and is currently touring to promote her new record. Fans can find tour dates and more information on her website.
