Songwriting legend Guy Clark is set to release 'Songs and Stories,' a live album showcasing some of the tunesmith's most prominent works, including 'The Cape,' 'Homegrown Tomatoes' and 'The Randall Knife.' As indicated by the album title, the stories behind the classic tunes will also be incorporated.

In addition, the 23-track collection will feature 'If I Needed You,' which was written by the late Townes Van Zandt. Guy recalls his peer effortlessly writing the track: "Townes came in for coffee one morning, picked up his guitar and laid this piece of paper on his leg and sang this song.

"I asked, 'Where did that come from?'" Guy continues. "He said, 'I wrote it last night in my sleep. I rolled over and wrote it down and turned over and went back to sleep.'"

Recorded at Nashville's Belcourt Theatre, 'Songs and Stories' features many of Guy's longtime musician collaborators including Verlon Thompson, Shawn Camp, Bryn Davies and Kenny Malone. The album will be released August 16 on the Dualtone Music Group label.
