November's Guest Room Sessions artist is Nashville-based duo McKenzies Mill, performing "American Boys" along with Texas native Adam Fears.

Brothers Justin and Ryan Harris co-founded McKenzies Mill, and "American Boys" was written by Justin Harris and Fears. The performance above was filmed at Landstar Publishing on Nashville's Music Row.

"We decided to record this with Adam because he's one of our favorite writers in town and also a great artist," Ryan Harris tells The Boot.

Two guitars and a harmonica drive "American Boys," a catchy number about good ol' American boys, hard work and, of course, girls. The song is unrecorded and unreleased, but it's become a favorite in McKenzies Mill's live shows.

"We're from the South and grew up in small-town North Carolina in the country. Parts of the song were inspired by our father, and others about the everyday guys who work hard to make ends meet but also take a little time to enjoy themselves ... much like many of our friends," Ryan Harris explains. "Country listeners and fans have become so widespread as the genre grows in popularity, and we wanted to write a song that relates to us and, at the same time, represents a lot of good people."

McKenzies Mill played the 2015 CMA Music Festival over the summer; recently released two singles, "Middle of Nowhere" and "Willie;" and are planning a new EP. The duo has been on the road quite a bit and recently signed a management deal with Rock Ridge Music. They have previously released two albums, One Hell of a Ride and a self-titled project.
