Gregg Allman Releasing First Solo Album in 14 Years

Founding member of the legendary Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman will release his first solo record in 14 years, January 18, 2011 on Rounder Records, the same label that reignited Robert Plant’s solo career in recent years. Produced by T-Bone Burnett, ‘Low Country Blues’ (the coastal Georgia region from which the iconic southern rocker hails) was recorded at T-Bone’s Village Recorder studio in Los Angeles. The project features Dr. John on piano and Doyle Bramhall II — whose illustrious creds in years past include growing up and playing guitar with the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan and Eric Clapton.

“When you have new record it always feels different,” Allman said in a statement. “It’s been too long. I guess I was just born with a lot of gypsy in my soul.”

In 1995, Gregg Allman was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2008, he was hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the ‘100 Greatest Singers of All Time.’

Fans can win a digital copy of ‘Low Country’ before anyone else can buy it, and an autographed CD and a copy of the vinyl LP in a deluxe gatefold album jacket, by visiting the Allman Brothers Band website.

Fans will also have the opportunity to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer and his band at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center in Westhampton Beach, N.Y. on December 31, 2010, according to Hampton Bay, N.Y. newspaper, Hamptonbays Patch.
