Glen Campbell is planning a new album that's a little bit country and a whole lot of rock 'n' roll. The legendary singer will release 'Meet Glen Campbell' on August 19. The CD will include 10 cover songs that Campbell says strike both musical and personal chords with him.

Those songs range from the 1969 Velvet Underground hit 'Jesus' to the Foo Fighters' 2003 smash, 'Times Like These.' Other rockers Campbell covers on the disc include John Lennon, U2, Green Day, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne and more.

"While I didn't write these songs, this sounds like a Glen Campbell album, which is important to me," says the 72-year-old music icon, best known for his classic hits 'Witchita Lineman' and 'Rhinestone Cowboy.'

Campbell also looked to the rock world for musical accompaniment on the project. Studio musicians on the album include Cheap Trick's Robin Zander, Jellyfish's Jason Faulkner, Jane's Addiction's Chris Chaney and Roger Joseph Manning, Jr.
