George Strait's coronation as 2014 ACM Awards Entertainer of the Year was expected, but that didn't make it any less heartwarming. The King of Country accepted the honor and reflected on the last three decades of his career.

The only thing surprising about Strait's win was that he seemed surprised. "Wow," he said. "I've always said I had the best fans in the world and I heard this was a fan-voted thing, so I rest my case."

"It’s been such an amazing past 30 years," he added. He gave shout-outs to MCA Records and his family before ending by addressing the fans once more, declaring, "I love all of you. Thank you so much."

Strait has received an outpouring of love and support over the past year as he embarks on his final concert tour before retiring from the road. The singer performed twice on the broadcast, first his own song, and then as part of a tribute to Merle Haggard.

Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Swift were also nominated, but no one was going to dethrone King George on this night.
