George Jones Hints at Future Duets Project
The country legend may have celebrated the big 8-0 last month, but don’t expect him to retire anytime soon. Aside from remaining busy as a touring act — recently announcing shows through November 2012, the singer hints at the possibility of a collaborative project in the future.
“I would love to do a few albums with some different artists,” George tells Billboard. “As far as any singles go, I’m not really looking forward to that. I would love to do some duets again, maybe like some of the funny things that Ernest Tubb and Red Foley used to do years ago.”
Though the project seems theoretical at the moment, the singer does continue to tour, playing an average of 60 shows a year. George knows the secret to a lasting, successful career, and gives credit where it’s due. “I would say the secret for my longevity is the fans,” he admits. “Country music fans are the most loyal fans in the world. They stick by you through thick and thin.”
