Gary Allan has scored his first No. 1 debut on the multi-genre Billboard 200, as his ninth studio album, Set You Free, enters the chart at the top spot, while also bowing at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. Selling just over 106,000 albums in its first week, the critically-acclaimed disc is the singer-songwriter's third No. 1 debut on the country chart -- and his first chart-topping album since 2005's Tough All Over.

Additionally, the California-born performer has earned another No. 1 single, his fifth, with "Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)," as the tune, which has already been certified gold, takes the top spot on Billboard's Country Airplay chart as well as the Mediabase/Country Aircheck and Music Row charts.

Until his most recent success, Gary says he has tried to avoid being too vigilant when it comes to the charts.

"I never watch the charts," he tells The Boot. "It's something I can't control and it drives me batty. But it's been so long since we had anything out there, I've watched every inch of what 'Every Storm' is doing, and it's been a blast to watch it grow. I like to watch what resonates with people and what they gravitate toward ... It is a song about hope, and the timing, with the recent storms and floods, our country needs hope. I think that's why it's doing so well."

Elsewhere on the country album chart this week, Taylor Swift falls to No. 2 with Red, and Randy Houser debuts at No. 3 with How Country Feels. The Tim McGraw duets compilation, Tim McGraw & Friends, debuts at No. 18.

Carrie Underwood is racing up the chart with "Two Black Cadillacs," another tune that's destined for No. 1. The song jumps from No. 11 to No. 7 on the Top Country Digital Tracks chart. Other tunes to watch out for in the coming weeks include Miranda Lambert's "Mama's Broken Heart," Florida Georgia Line's "Get Your Shine On" and Jana Kramer's "Whiskey," all of which had significant increases in downloads this week.
