While backstage at SXSW 2017 on Friday (March 17), Garth Brooks got to hear his new single, "Ask Me How I Know," on the radio for the very first time. The country star captured the moment in a Facebook video, which readers can watch above.

While Brooks was waiting to take the stage at a press conference to announce his free concert at the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas, a local radio station, KASE101, played Brooks' newest single, which had just been released that morning. The behind-the-scenes clip shows Brooks nodding along to the song as it plays on the radio; at one point, he looks at the camera and whispers, "This is so cool!"

Written by Mitch Rossell, “Ask Me How I Know” is Track No. 3 on Brooks’ most recent studio album, Gunslinger. The song finds its narrator cautioning someone — a friend, a child, a stranger in a bar — that “one day, you’ll meet the girl you swore you’d never find … You’ll push her away ’cause that’s all you know how to do … Ask me how I know.”

“Ask Me How I Know” is Brooks’ second single from Gunslinger; it follows “Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance,” released in October.

Following his press conference at SXSW 2017, Brooks and and Amazon Music Vice President Steve Boom took part in a keynote conversation about their exclusive streaming relationship and the changing face of music services. In late 2016, Brooks partnered with Amazon Music for an exclusive streaming deal through Amazon Music Unlimited; Brooks also made his music catalog available for purchase and digital download on Amazon Music exclusively.

On Friday night, Brooks played his hits during an unannounced set at the Broken Spoke in downtown Austin, but his big SXSW show came on Saturday night (March 18). Austin-area residents were eligible to obtain free tickets, and SXSW 2017 registrants were also able to attend.
