Great American Country is the latest television station to join the reality-talent show craze. The network, in collaboration with Music Nation, has announced a new addition to its lineup called 'The Next GAC Star.' The show aims to find the next big talent in country music by having viewers watch and vote on contestants online, through Music Nation's online video player. After those votes are counted, six finalists will be flown to Nashville for the final, televised competition.

"There are two phenomenon currently at play in the music industry: the rise of consumer-generated music content on the Internet and the success of artists participating in national talent competitions," explains Sarah Trahern, GAC's Senior Vice President of Programming. "We've incorporated both aspects into one show with 'The Next GAC Star.'"

The winning artist will receive a record deal and will get to make a music video for GAC. Hopeful contestants are asked to submit a video, mp3 and/or a photo by visiting
