Florida Georgia Line Earn Sixth No. 1 Single With ‘Sun Daze’
Florida Georgia Line have reached the top of the charts yet again. The duo, made up of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, have earned their sixth No. 1 hit with "Sun Daze."
The song is the second single from their sophomore, gold-selling Anything Goes album.
"We are real proud of "Sun Daze" because that song came about so late in the game. It was one of the last ballpark tour dates we did with Nelly, but we were still finishing up the album and inspired to write that day,” Kelley says. “We thought we pretty much had every song we wanted, but this one definitely kicked one of the songs off. It shows that, right down to the wire, you need to keep writing and stay in your creative zone. We knew we had something special."
Adds Hubbard, “We can’t begin to thank country radio and our fans enough for all of the support for our music and what we do. We have been beyond blessed the past few years and know that we wouldn't be here without you."
The success of "Sun Daze" was undoubtedly helped by the song's hysterical video, proof that FGL know when it's okay to not take things, including themselves, too seriously.
“We’ve always kind of stuck to the motto of ‘Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, just have fun,’” Hubbard says. “We don’t try to overthink it or stress too much about it.
Whatever Florida Georgia Line are doing, it seems to be working. The reigning ACM and CMA Vocal Duo of the Year are nominated for five more ACM Awards at the upcoming 2015 50th anniversary ceremony, including the night's highest honor, Entertainer of the Year. And the guys have a busy 2015 planned, including extending their 2015 Anything Goes Tour into the summer.
“With this tour, it’s our first worldwide tour,” Kelley says. “It’s our first full-year of headlining … It’s a bigger scale. Bigger venues, more people, more lights, more smoke. More pyro. Maybe some lasers ... We’re trying to make it big and fun and try to create the best moments that we can. That’s what our shows are all about, moments that you’re never going to forget.”
