Faith Hill is a bonafide country star nowadays, but before her name was in the spotlight, she worked regular jobs like everyone else -- sort of. Two of Hill's pre-fame jobs put her in the presence of successful country stars.

Before she even had a job working for country artists, Hill had another job, at McDonald's.

"Fries, burgers, cash register -- I did it all," Hill recalls. "I hated it. God bless the people that work there."

Hill ditched the burgers and got a job packaging merch for Reba McEntire, who was one of the young singer's idols. She actually auditioned to be a touring backup singer for McEntire, but attests that she didn't get the job because she isn't a great backup singer. Hill's bad luck proved lucky in the long run, however, as she would have been in the 1991 plane crash that killed eight of McEntire's band members.

Hill's first husband, Daniel Hill, then helped her get a job as a receptionist at Gary Morris Productions, owned by Gary Morris, the hitmaker behind "The Wind Beneath My Wings." It was while working at Morris' office that Hill's career changed for the better: According to Faith Hill: Piece of My Heart, someone played her demo for Morris, and she immediately heard him bounding up the stairs toward where she was sitting.

"I'm sitting at my desk, and he's walking over toward me, and I remember this so plainly," Hill recalls. "And I'm thinking, 'This is it, I'm going to lose my job. Well, I guess this is meant to be. This is probably the kick in the butt I need.'"

Hill was nervous about getting fired because during her job interview, she was asked if she was in Nashville to be a singer or a writer, and because she wanted the job, she said no. But instead of firing her, Morris said, "You need to get up from behind that desk, and you need to start getting busy. You're not supposed to do this."

Eventually, Hill's star began to rise, and she became the top-notch country artist we know today. From Mickey D's employee to merch packager and receptionist to one of the biggest stars in the world, Hill has fiercely worked her way to the top.
