The long wait for new Faith Hill music is almost over! At last year's CMA Music Awards, the songstress premiered "Come Home," the first song from her yet-to-be-released seventh studio album. Now, almost a year later, the second single from the project, "American Heart" is headed to country radio, for airplay beginning Oct. 1. The midtempo tune tells the story of a struggling protagonist who survives by the strength of her faith in the American dream:

"It beats like a drum down in New Orleans / Sings like a Motown melody / It dreams like California / Bigger than a Texas sky / It bleeds, it scars, but it shines when times get hard / You can't break an American heart."

"American Heart" will be featured on the upcoming album that is rumored to share a title with "Illusion," the song Faith performed as part of the recent CMA Music Festival special on ABC.

"This album, more than any I've made in the past, definitely infuses more gospel-soul into the sound," the superstar singer tells The Boot of the project, which still doesn't have an official release date. "Country music is very soulful music, so it's always been that way a little bit, but I definitely dug a little deeper in my Mississippi soul for this record."

Fans heading out to Las Vegas this winter to see Faith and her husband, Tim McGraw, perform their Soul 2 Soul shows at the Venetian will likely hear "American Heart" and some other new songs firsthand. The country couple's residency on the strip begins Dec. 7.
