Love and Theft's Eric Gunderson was thrilled by his pregnant wife, Emily's sonogram Tuesday (Dec. 4), which revealed their first baby's gender.

"I'm so excited to have a boy!" the singer exclaims in a statement sent to The Boot. "Emily would be happy either way, but I've been secretly planning father/son hunting and fishing trips all along. I might even let him try his hand at guitar, although, you know those musicians are a handful ..."

Baby Boy Gunderson is due May 18, just about a month after his parents' third wedding anniversary. Eric and Emily wed on Easter weekend of 2010, in an intimate ceremony in Hendersonville, Tenn. The two started dating before Love and Theft found fame -- a fact that the singer says helps his marriage thrive. "My wife is very patient and supportive," he tells The Boot. "She was my girlfriend from the beginning (of Love and Theft) and has watched us grow and grown with us ... I couldn't ask for a better wife. I'd be like a lost puppy without her."

Love and Theft is currently on the road with Jake Owen, wrapping up their 2012 tour dates on Dec. 15. They'll be in Las Vegas next week for the American Country Awards, where they're nominated for Music Video of the Year: Group or Collaboration for "Angel Eyes." Then they'll close out what has been a tremendous year for the duo by spending New Year's Eve at home in Nashville, performing at the Music City Bash on Broadway.
