Eric Church is taking a look back in time with his new music video for 'Talladega.'

The video, directed by Peter Zavadil, begins with an old man in the hospital, then cutting to archival Super 8mm footage of family videos, as well as shots of Church at Nashville Speedway with his band.

The song is Church's fourth single from his current album, 'The Outsiders,' which was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2014 CMA Awards and is up for Best Country Album at the 2015 Grammy Awards. And while the tune is named after a famous speedway, Church says the song is about much more than racing.

“It has nothing to do with that,” he explains. “That is nothing more than the avenue through which the commentary took place. It’s really about life.

"NASCAR was as hot as any sport back in the ’90s, and it was a thing where a group of your buddies go take stuff, tents, camp out, stay a few days, walk back and forth to the track. We actually lost the damn car, you know; you’re so far away," Church adds. "I can’t tell you who won the race, but I could tell you all the experiences we had in a two- or three-day period.”

Church is finishing up the 2014 leg of his Outsiders World Tour on Dec. 13 before heading out again in January. A list of upcoming shows can be found at EricChurch.com.

‘The Outsiders’ is available on iTunes and Amazon.
