The CMA Songwriters Series, held in New York City, has already played host to several of Nashville's finest singer-songwriters, including Jamey Johnson, Dierks Bentley, James Otto and Billy Currington. Now, Eric Church is getting ready to join the list of prolific writers who bring country to the Big Apple.

Eric is scheduled to play two shows at downtown Manhattan's Joe's Pub on November 2, along with Carolyn Dawn Johnson, writer Luke Laird (who recently scored a No.1 with Carrie Underwood's 'Undo It') and hit songwriter and frequent series host, Bob DiPiero.

"I can't wait to take a bite out of the Big Apple!" says Eric. "There is nothing better than sitting back with a few good friends and playing some great tunes. I love the city, I love the company, I can't wait to throw down in New York!"

The CMA Songwriters Series began in 2005 as a way to showcase the talented writers who pen some of country music's biggest hits. Other tunesmiths who have graced the stage at Joe's Pub include Brett James ('Cowboy Casanova' and 'Jesus Take the Wheel' by Carrie Underwood), Rivers Rutherford ('When I Get Where I'm Going' by Brad Paisley, 'Ain't Nothing About You' by Brooks & Dunn) and Marv Green ('Amazed' by Lonestar, 'It Just Comes Natural' by George Strait).

Eric may have toured with several big acts, including his recent run on the 'Country Throwdown Tour' with Jack Ingram, Montgomery Gentry and Little Big Town, but it's intimate shows like the CMA Songwriter Series that spark his interest the most. "I've always gravitated to the singer-songwriter, and I think the fans get a little better glimpse of who you are," he tells The Boot. "And it's a lot easier for me to sell it on stage. We put so much into our live show, it's just really important to me that I'm the one that writes those things."

Eric is currently on the road, along with Josh Kelley and headliner Miranda Lambert, as part of CMT's ninth annual 'CMT on Tour.' He recently returned from a 30 days of seclusion with a few songwriters, crafting songs for his new album. Find Eric's tour schedule here.
