Emmylou Harris has entered a plea in a court case stemming from a hit-and-run accident.

The 66-year-old country legend was investigated for hit-and-run after an accident that took place on Oct. 1, 2012 in Los Angeles. The singer was driving a rental car on an L.A. freeway when she hit another car, then drove away without stopping.

A representative for Harris acknowledged that she was involved in a "minor traffic accident," adding, "She unintentionally rubbed bumpers with another vehicle.” The rep said that the singer left the scene because she didn’t realize the cars made contact, adding that it was a “garden-variety accident that happens everyday on the 405.”

Harris was formally charged with hit-and-run in January 2013, and entered a plea of not guilty. She could have faced a six-month jail sentence if convicted.

According to TMZ, the singer has now pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of failing to provide information to the other driver at the scene of an accident. She has been ordered to pay $5,000 to the driver of the other car by the end of the week.

Since the crime is an infraction, Harris will not be placed on probation.
