Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry has been given a clean bill of health and is now devoid of cancer.

“Mr. Montgomery underwent successful robotic surgery for prostate cancer in December,” his doctor, Thomas Kirk Slabaughm Jr., reveals. “His cancer was completely excised, and he will not require further treatment for his prostate cancer in the future. Mr. Montgomery has benefited greatly from early detection of prostate cancer with PSA screening.”

Grand Ole Opry members since 2009, Montgomery Gentry return to the stage of the Opry tonight (Friday) to make their first public appearance since Eddie underwent surgery last month, which was deemed successful at the time. Following the surgery, Eddie stated, “I’m ready to get on the road and raise some hell next year!!”

Here’s to hoping 2011 is a great year for Eddie, who’s coming off a rough 2010. In September, Montgomery Gentry left their record label of 11 years, Sony Nashville. In November, he announced his cancer, and in early December, his wife asked for a divorce. But through it all, the singer has remained courageous.

“I will be undergoing surgery to remove the cancerous tumor in December,” Eddie wrote back in November. “I will be back in January ready to rock for all the fans! Please keep my family and I in your prayers.”

He is definitely ready to rock, along with partner Troy Gentry. The two will embark on an eight-day USO tour to Seoul, South Korea and Okinawa, Japan on Sunday. “We couldn’t be more excited to start our year with a visit to the Opry and this USO trip to entertain our troops,” says Troy. “We understand on a much smaller level what it is like to be away from our families and our homes. If we can bring a little bit of home to our heros serving overseas, then we’re all for it.”

When the duo return, they will head far north to perform a show in Fairbanks, Alaska on February 16.
