Drive-By Truckers Announce New Live Album

After spending years gaining a reputation for delivering a rocking live show to fans, the Drive-By Truckers are set to release a new live album, bringing their show to fans who may not have had the chance to catch the group on stage.

It's Great to Be Alive is set for release on Oct. 30 and will feature 35 tracks recorded during three performances at the historic Filmore Auditorium in San Francisco, Calif. The project, which was produced by David Barbe, will be released as a 5-LP or 3-CD set, with a condensed 13-track edition called This Weekend's the Night also being released.

"Our long-time producer, David Barbe, acquired the necessary mobile gear to record us and flew out to San Francisco to capture our three-night stand in November of 2014. We hired some horns, sold some tickets and played three special and unique shows," the band announced on their website. "From those shows we have sequenced a sort of ultimate live DBT collection, one that hopefully captures the essence of our life’s work into one cohesive whole ... Songs and stories spanning thirty years of Drive-By Truckers sequenced to hopefully give as close as possible document of the DBT show."

Around the time of recording It's Great to Be Alive last year, the band released a live DVD, Black Ice Vérité, which was filmed at the 40 Watt in Athens, Ga. The DVD featured the band playing through their latest studio release, English Oceans.
