Singer, songwriter and banjo picker Don DiLego is premiering the music video for his track “Don’t Bury Me Alive” exclusively for readers of The Boot.

The sparse, black-and-white "Don't Bury Me Alive" clip is an ideal setting for its accompanying track, which uses vivid storytelling to explore the idea of sticking around.

“Don’t bury me alive / No, don't bury me alive / I am not done living / So keep me by your side,” sings DiLego in the song's chorus, adding in second verse, “Where are all the winters? / Where are all the storms? / Broken all my windows / And kept the fire warm / The morning, it still lingers like a railway train / Stuck between the changes that never really came.”

Fans may remember DiLego from his work with Beautiful Small Machines, an electro-twang duo responsible for an infectious, “hootenanny bluegrass”-style cover of M.I.A.’s "Paper Planes" that went viral back in 2012. Before that, DiLego wrote the soundtrack for a feature film called Ranchero and wrote with rocker Jesse Malin.

“Don’t Bury Me Alive” appears on DiLego’s Magnificent Ram A album, released on July 15; the record is available for purchase on DiLego’s website. Visit DeLego's tour calendar for details on upcoming shows, including a set as part of the Outlaw Roadshow's stop at Nashville's Mercy Lounge on Sept. 17.
