The Dixie Chicks took on Madison Square Garden on Monday night (June 13) as part of their DCX MMXVI World Tour, and they paid a rousing, energetic, passionate tribute to victims of the Orlando shooting with a cover of Ben Harper's "Better Way."

After the trio sang "Not Ready to Make Nice" (one of many fan-favorite hits in their setlist), they took time to introduce the final song. Though they've been performing Harper's song throughout the tour, it was especially meaningful on Monday due to the tragic events that had just occurred.

"A real a--hole did something really bad this week and made us feel not ready to make nice," Maines stated, "but we cannot let the hatred and the anger win out. We can't leave you guys not ready to make nice."

She added, “We gotta put positivity out there in the universe. We're going to do that by chanting this song at the top of our lungs."

They sang in front of a rainbow-colored heart in a visual commitment to the LGBTQ community. Their children came onstage to sing back-up and play a few instruments. As you can see in the video above, it was a beautiful and enthralling performance.

After finding out about the horrific shootings, the Chicks took to Twitter and said, “Our hearts and thoughts go out to the friends and families who have lost their loved ones to violence in Orlando this week. It’s so important during these times to stay united as people against this misguided hatred. #Peaceandlovepeaceandlove.”

The band's tour runs through the beginning of September with stops at amphitheaters and arenas throughout. They haven't kept quiet about their political beliefs during this trek, and they're using an anti-Trump video montage during hit "Goodbye Earl."
