David Nail's go-to song for warming up his voice is now a runaway hit. The country singer started singing Adele's "Someone Like You" before concerts, and the few people who heard him eventually convinced him to film a video performing the song. David complied, thinking it would just be something his friends and family would see, but it's now a web, TV and radio smash. (Watch below.)

"It's hard to believe the life that Someone Like You has taken on," says the soulful singer. "It's proof that people hunger for great songs -- and they are open to different interpretations of songs they love. I started singing it because it's a great song to warm up with, and people who heard it liked it ... then they told other people, who told other people. We never did it for anything more than to share with the folks who were asking."

The success of David's version of "Someone Like You" prompted his record label to release it on a three-song EP. Titled 1979, after the year the Missouri native was born, the project also includes two songs from his latest album, "The Sound of a Million Dreams" and "Half Mile Hill."

"Every singer hears songs that make you want to sing them," says David. "I got to the Adele album late because I listen to so much sports talk radio, but the second I heard it, I was all about it. It was just one of those songs. And I love the idea that enough people want to hear it, that we're able to put this EP out on iTunes, so anyone who wants to share these songs with me can."

1979 will be available on iTunes on July 17.
