David Allan Coe was hospitalized this morning (March 19) following a car accident in Ocala, Fla., reports ABC Action News. While rescue crews did have to use extrication equipment to remove the 73-year-old from his 2011 Chevrolet Suburban, he was treated for "non-life threatening conditions."

According to the Ocala Police Department, the incident occurred this morning around 1:30 AM, when Coe failed to stop at a red light on State Road 40. The passenger side of "The Ride" singer's vehicle was then hit by a 1996 Peterbilt tractor-trailer semi, sending the Suburban into a parking lot at a corner of the intersection.

In addition, the semi overturned and slid into a traffic control box and light pole, spilling diesel fuel and fresh produce. The driver, Robert Johnson, and his passenger, Lisa Mead, were both treated for minor injuries.

The country legend was on his way from Tampa to a home in Ormond Beach, Fla., and the preliminary investigation showed that he was at fault. He received a citation for violation of a traffic control device.
