Darius Rucker was joined by hot country trio Lady Antebellum for a rousing rendition of his hit single 'Wagon Wheel' at the 2013 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night (June 5), delivering a feel-good, high energy version of the song that had the crowd singing along.

Rucker covered the song, which was originally from Old Crow Medicine Show. His version features a hotter, more commercial arrangement but also highlights great fiddles and an overall up-tempo vibe. He entered from the audience and made his way to the stage, where the members of Lady A added their distinctive harmonies to the mix for a blend that was one of the highlights of the evening. It marked the first time he has sung it with them since they recorded it together.

At one point the instruments dropped out and left just Rucker and the other singers, as he clapped the beat and got the audience to join in. It was a remarkable performance that transformed the enormous Bridgestone Arena in Nashville into a raucous country club, if only for a minute, on Wednesday night.
