The American Country Countdown Awards made their debut in December of 2014, in a star-studded event hosted by Florida Georgia Line. And while the second annual ACC Awards have been postponed until Spring 2016, fans will still be able to enjoy plenty of country music on TV on Thursday night (Dec. 17) thanks to the televised American Country Countdown's Top 10 Stories of 2015 special, which will be hosted by Darius Rucker.

"It felt like a cool idea," Rucker tells The Boot. "Counting down the Top 10 events of the year with some great performances, and it sounds like fun to me, so I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll give it a shot.’"

Still, the "Southern Style" singer admits that he is a bit nervous about making his televised hosting debut.

"I hosted a radio thing with Jennifer Nettles, but that’s the only thing I’ve ever done like this," Rucker admits.

Rucker, who won a CMA Award in 2009 for New Artist of the Year and a Grammy in 2013 for Best Country Solo Performance, for "Wagon Wheel" -- not to mention another Grammy in 1995 as the frontman of Hootie & the Blowfish -- says that winning trophies is a nice gesture but not a measure of the success, or failure, of an artist.

"I think they’re nice. For me, you like it when it happens and get recognized with nominations and awards. You really like it a lot when you win," Rucker muses. "But there’s a part of me that goes, music is so subjective; it’s so much of what you think and you believe and what you feel that for somebody to say that your song is better than that song, maybe it is for you, but how do you know what it is for somebody else?

"But I love my awards. I love having those. I love that," he adds. "You say you don’t care, but then when you do get an award, you like it."

American Country Countdown's Top 10 Stories of 2015 will include performances by Carrie Underwood, Jason AldeanLittle Big Town and more. Kelsea Ballerini, Cam, Charles Kelley and Maddie & Tae are also schedule to appear. The show will air at 8PM ET on Fox.
