Darius Rucker helped kick off the 2015 CMT Music Awards with an outdoor performance on Lower Broadway in Nashville.

The South Carolina native performed his latest hit, "Homegrown Honey," from his recent Southern Style album. Rucker played from an elevated stage, complete with water spraying all over, as thousands of fans, no doubt in town for the 2015 CMA Music Festival, surrounded the stage.

"Homegrown Honey" was Rucker's debut single from his latest set of tunes.

“It’s a little different for me. It’s not one of those family songs — it’s really a country party song,” he says of the uptempo tune. “It’s talking about some country girl who lives in New York City. It’s got hooks galore.”

Rucker began this week with an all-star show at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon, and it was all for a good cause. The 2015 Darius Rucker and Friends benefit concert brought Little Big TownBrett Eldredge, the Brothers Osborne, A Thousand Horses and Steve Wariner together, with the proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He followed the star-studded night with the Darius Rucker and Friends Celebrity Tee-Off golf tournament, with all proceeds also going to St. Jude.

“Growing up, my mother instilled in me the importance of giving back. Whether it was mowing a neighbor’s yard or helping during the loss of a loved one, it’s important on so many levels,” Rucker says. “Just like St. Jude, I’ve been given so much from the music community over the years, so this is one of the ways I know how to say thanks.

Rucker will have plenty of opportunities to perform "Homegrown Honey" while on his 2015 Southern Style Tour. Eldredge, the Brothers Osborne and A Thousand Horses will join him as guests throughout the trek. The tour kicked off in May; ticket information is available on Rucker's website.
