Why We Dig Her: Dana Romanello epitomizes down-home charm. From a family steeped in musical talent -- from her grandpa who played banjo, guitar and bass, to her father and his brother and sister, who started their own bluegrass band in the '70s -- Dana's life revolved around music right from the beginning. "It's who I am, not just something I do," she admits to The Boot.

With training from cradle, the songstress has honed her instincts and immediately fell for this tune, "It's a Summer Thing," which, despite her own talents as a tunesmith, was penned by Leslie Satcher, who has written for George Strait, Reba McEntire and Martina McBride.

"I heard this song and fell in love with the infectious melody and breakdown in the bridge," Dana exclaims. "It's so much fun."

It may have started with a song, but it led to her first music video (below), which follows one waitress and her bad-boy beau as they flirt with summer love. The bluegrass influenced singer did her own hair, makeup, wardrobe and even some of the choreography for the clip that reveals what all girls do when they think no one is listening: sing into a mop and dance on counter tops. But you really want to watch for her death defying stunts, think very high heels and climbing.

In the video, Dana even managed to pay homage to those who have shaped her life -- her family -- including a tenor guitar, which was a present from her parents, and wearing a locket (with the yellow dress) that her great-grandfather bestowed upon her when she was child.
