Craig Morgan makes it clear in the video for his latest single, 'Wake Up Lovin' You,' that not every love story has a happy ending.

The singer stars in the poignant clip, which also features a man trying to get over his lost love by drowning his sorrows in alcohol, while having a series of one-night stands in cheap hotels to forget his hurting heart. But the man always escapes in the early morning light, and his sorrow lingers.

Morgan says the song made him think of one person in particular when he first heard it. "My wife, instantly. Twenty-five years with her, same woman. And I love her like we were teenagers," he tells Taste of Country. "And that’s kind of what I imagine what would happen to me. I would be that guy if something happened to my wife."

Morgan hints that the song, which is the debut single from his latest album, 'The Journey (Livin' Hits),' will be a game-changer for him. “With this particular single, I’m confident that it will be the biggest song of my career," he tells Billboard magazine. "The vocal range I get to use here is not like anything I have done a lot of in the past. This song is ageless and timeless, regardless of your ethnicity, religion, no matter where you’re at, there is something so special about it that it’s infectious and you feel it.”
