Craig Morgan Charity Weekend Raises More Than $73,000

Craig Morgan just completed his sixth annual Charity Motocross Ride, Concert and Sporting Clay Shoot, and the singer couldn’t be happier with the results. The two-day event, held August 11-12, raised more than $73,000 for the Craig Morgan Charity Fund, which benefits foster children throughout Middle Tennessee.

“Year-after-year I am blown away by the support for this event from our celebrity friends and the Dickson and Middle Tennessee communities,” notes the singer. “I am so proud of the amount of money raised to help the children and families in this area and am already looking forward to our seventh annual event next summer.”

The singer-songwriter, who has raised $250,000 since the event began in 2007, plans to establish Billy’s Place, which will be a temporary home for displaced children, until they can be reunited with their biological family or placed in permanent homes.

“I do it because I’ve been so blessed, and I feel like every time I give back, the Lord just gives me so much more,” Craig explains. “And it’s neat with the kids.”

This year’s event featured several motocross stars, including Cowboy Kenny Bartram and Randy Hawkins, plus country music’s own Bucky Covington, participating in an exhibition and trail ride on Saturday. Singers Darryl Worley and Robin Meade performed that evening in a concert which was hosted by GAC’s Nan Kelley, and featured a special performance by Craig. The evening was capped off with a silent auction, with one lucky bidder scoring a hunting trip with the country music star, which went for more than $6,000. On Sunday, Tim Bradley, dubbed the “Ultimate Shooter,” demonstrated his skills as part of the Celebrity Sporting Clays Event.

Craig’s debut album on Black River Entertainment, This Ole Boy, hit shelves earlier this year. His upcoming concert schedule includes shows in Michigan and Minnesota this weekend. See more of his tour dates here.
