This week’s Spurs are like a 12-step program for recovering from a radio invasion into Twang Town.

The Country Radio Seminar has just left Nashville, meaning there are a few less men talking in deep voices at the bar. The radio seminar features a whole bunch of radio people trying to get country music record label represenatives to pay for their drinks. One such rep used a Groupon at Hooters to cover the bill for an entire radio chain. In exchange, one station programmer promised that he would add Jessica Simpson to heavy rotation if she ever releases another country song.

Carrie Underwood opened CRS by singing the national anthem. As she finished on a perfect high note, a radio disc jockey from Ottawa heckled her, still mad about her hubby Mike Fisher’s recent trade to the Nashville Predators. Carrie dropped her gloves and slammed the deejay into the glass doors of the Renaissance Hotel and then served the remainder of the radio seminar in the penalty box.

Wynonna is saying it’s her goal to get back on country radio and will do whatever it takes. The rumor mill is twittering that the Judds have silently set up a session in Las Vegas with Charlie Sheen and his Goddesses and will re-make their hit, ‘Mama He’s Crazy.’

Vince Gill did the gentlemanly thang at the Grand Ole Opry when he saw Crystal Bowersox backstage and invited “Mama-Sox” out to sing. Jean Shepard couldn’t stop clapping for her, Bill Anderson though she was “pitchy” and Little Jimmy Dickens said “it sounded a bit karaoke to me.” In a surprise vote, the audience kept Crystal while voting off the Doobie Brothers.

Speaking of ‘American Idol,’ have you been checking out young Scott McCreery who sounds just like another low singing Belmont graduate, Josh Turner? After Josh reached out to the young kid and suggested he try not to copy him so much, he received a text from George Strait asking him to send a note to Easton Corbin on his behalf.

Dolly Parton reportedly is thinking about sending Kellie Pickler a nice note, too.

That’s the Spurs this week, kids. Now try to stay out of trouble.
